Our hotel accommodation is in Cagnes-sur-Mer - 15 minutes from Nice. We'd dropped off the campervan at 11am but check in wasn't allowed until 3pm so we left our bags and walked down to the beach. The day was stunning with clear blue sky and people enjoying the water. We chilled out by the beach for a while but with a shopping mall in the vicinity the kids were keen to go shopping. Vietnamese was on the menu for lunch, as we were keen for something a little different, a great choice enjoyed by all.
A safe cycle path and a great 'hire and return' scheme had us grabbing some hire bikes to head to the shopping mall -however the bike rack at the return station didnt have room for all our bikes so April, Kate and Darryl had to go on to the next, which only had one space so on a bit further for Kate & Darryl. Fortunately the next rack was good and only a 5 min walk back to the mall. After some retail therapy and the best icecream of the trip so far (boysenberry cheesecake flavour) we headed back again by bike. We checked in to our apartment in the hotel and headed to the swimming pool to while the afternoon away.
A late sleep in the next morning and another relaxing day - we decided not to go to Monaco - as we really needed to unwind. We were keen to experience some French cuisine, and tried to find a place that served snails which were on Scott's list of things to try, but no luck. We did find a nice place though (there were lots to choose from) and Scott was pretty happy with his mussels instead. We all tried them and agreed they were delicious (even those of us that normally don't like mussels!).
We'd been looking for a barber and chanced upon an open one (on a Sunday against all odds), so haircuts for Scott and Darryl. Back in time for more swimming and some TV. A game of pool between Sarah and Scott to finish the evening and some delicious french pastries. A relaxing end to our time in France, as we head for Italy tomorrow.
Scott: I liked the biking
Sarah: Lunch was delicious.
April: Great to have a sleep in!
