We had around 160km to get to our final night's resting place - we travelled through another scenic gorge just as lovely as the others and with not too much traffic. We tried to stop on route and arrange a short horseriding trek on route but it wasn't meant to be.
Trying to find a place to empty water and waste before returning the campervan and night over at was harder than we expected. There were lots of camping grounds but most were seasonal, and now closed - and aires were intermittent. Back into heavy traffic areas and woth our height restrictions addes to the mix made it even more challenging (many parking areas have height restriction to prevent campervan from entering) but we eventually found somewhere that would do the job.
Ironically we finished as we started in a very uninspiring aires - this one the car park for Marineland. The attraction closed but the campervan parking still available. With a high traffic road nearby it was a noisy night but the sealed carpark was great to empty out our belongings and have a clean out. Thankfully the weather was also great as that is not a job you would want to do in the rain.
The next morning we had a 15 minute drive to the drop off site, but to continue the theme of ending as we began, we encountered another spaghetti junction that we failed to navigate correctly. We finally arrived via a one way street (with two navigation programs telling us to go the same way - we thought we were being extra careful) 30m from the Avis return Depot - but on the other side of a 3.2m under pass. Having been told 3.2m was our height Darryl went for a walk to the Avis site and found an employee who said we were ok to go under that one and then nicely came and drive it through. We were delighted to be able to hand the keys over - and walk the short distance down the road to our hotel.
April: Hooray. Looking forward to a long shower and sleeping in a better bed.
Scott: I bought a rock with amethyst crystals on it.
Darryl: Nicest countryside yet. Nice driving. Overnight parking site was "merde". (Editors translation).
