Wow what an amazing start to our trip a couple of days in Paris. Had a brilliant first day yesterday checked out the local area where we are staying in Montmartre, visited the Sacre Coeur and the beautiful streets surrounding it, plenty to see, also realized we were staying on the edge of the Red Light area lol....... Walked into the city stopping at the Arch De Triomphe very impressive, next down to the Eiffel Tower and made it the top yah, climbed the stairs to the second level and then the elevator up, spent an hour at the top, perfect conditions, met a lovely chap Alex who Gael practiced her Spanish with. Enjoyed crepes afterwards soaking up the atmosphere. Then for a night tour with the Fat Tire Bike company thru Paris. They suggested Gael and take our bikes for a test ride, we went around the block and they coming looking for us ha ha ha. We had a fabulous 4 hours and to top it all off we had red wine cruising up the Seine and met some lovely people.
Travelled 2 hours on the train today out to Bayeux and went on a D-Day Beaches Tour. Fabulous country side, fields of yellow grape seed oil and sheep and cattle, beautiful little villages along the way and such narrow county lanes. Had a great history lesson from Anne Maria, enjoyed the day enormously.
Gaelie stayed in Paris and joined a walking tour, it rained so got a little cold but her duck dinner warmed things up.
Tomorrow we fly to Biarritz and then train too SJdP so close and pumped to get hiking......
