We got to Pakse after 7 hours on a bus, and following the previous day we were in no mood for it, we'd had hardly any sleep in our guesthouse due to the cockroaches and Aaron making us sleep with the light on! Everyone we have met so far she just has to remind them, I suppose I am paying for it after telling everyone that she fell in up to her knees in bats***.A thing called Karma which we are going come to find out about a lot more on this trip, it's a big thing over here. We were on a mission to find a nice guesthouse and splash out on hot and coldwater and a TV for the night, we got it too but wasn't the best room and the shower hose kept coming out of the socket, very annoying! We showered and changed out of our minging clothes and headed into town to find some much needed food.We found an Indian, ironically it took us longer to decide on whether we were staying vegetarians then it did to find a room and shower! We decided on Chicken...ha ha!After stuffing ourselves very silly and rolling home, we decided to watch a film and chill out 'meet the fockers' seen it a hundred times but funnily enough I appreciated it so much more, first film we've seen in 6 weeks! There's really not that much to do in Pakse, the lonely Planet gives a couple of things one of which was to go to Sala Bolaven which is local farmers' produce and also supports Fair-Trading, you can apparently go and have a taste of the jams and wines and things...ohhh noooo (thank you yet again LP) we paid $5 to get there and there was nothing just a few closed jars of jam and no sniff of a taster, and to think we skipped breakfast for this ( I was going for an Ab Fab goes to France style...someone stole the steering wheel! sorry if its only Kirst' who laughs at that...you had to be there!)So we jumped our ride back to 'town' and have a mooch around a market. We saw where the Mekong river Yet again we can't get away from this thing (one of the longest rivers in the world) meets the Se Don river I swear there was a line and staple marks attaching it!We mooched some more and stopped at a bar where a little local girl (Noonan) was entertaining me, I gave her one of the books from the charity Big Brother Mouse and tried to speak some Laos with her but she just found this amusing! So as you can see it was a small town and no big things going on, were moving onto the islands tomorrow and have treated ourselves (and learnt our lesson) and paid for a mini bus so hopefully it'll pay off!Ta for reading...try and keep up!
