We arrived in Nha Trang at 6am. We headed to the tourist area and found a cheap hotel which we didn't realise was recommended in the Rough Guide until we looked afterwards. We dumped our stuff and had a walk along the beach and spent some time there, it is quite a nice beach. We then decided to do a PADI diving course. We went to Rainbow Divers and signed up. The PADI Open Water Course allows you to dive with another certified diver down to a depth of no more than 18 metres. The course took 4 days. The first two days involve watching DVD's and doing quizzes and a final exam in the mornings and then you spend the afternoon in the pool learning the skills needed to dive safely in open water. The final two days involve 2 dives each day from a dive boat at one of the multiple dive sites around some of the islands, where you do a few more skills and get to explore the coral and sea bed. It was an amazing experience and I can't wait to try it back in England although it will be a lot chillier. While not diving, we saw some Cham towers on the outskirts of town, have had lots of nice meals at various restaurants and lay in the room watching Discovery Channel and generally being very lazy. I decided to buy an iPod Touch and 500 albums for less than the price of the iPod itself back in England. It was a good deal. After finishing our PADI we had a few drinks with our instructor and we are going to meet up some of the people from our group and the dive boat this evening before catching a 7.30am coach to Saigon tomorrow morning.
