We spent my birthday in Krabi, where we spent the day around Krabi, went out for a meal then found a bar with a very good live cover band and had a few drinks with some people we met there. The next day we headed to Surat Thani, a transport hub for the area and booked a coach and boat to the island of Ko Samui. We thought we couldn't come to Thailand and not visit one of the islands. We stayed in a cheap bungalow on stits with only a cold shower, it is also where we met Larry the cockroach. We spent 2 nights on Ko Samui, which is a lot more expensive than the rest of Thailand. The sea is warmish and clear and the beach is nice and sandy. It is a very touristy area, with lots of resturants and bars, and many 'women' vying for your attention, which we avoided, although Wil did get a hug forced upon him. We booked a boat, bus and overnight train up to Bangkok at one of the travel agents, and headed off in the morning on our way to Bangkok.
