After the overnight journey to Paracas, we just wanted to chill on a beach for most of the day. Peru has some really nice souvenirs, so we had a look around the market there and ended up buying a llama photo album for 5 pound!
The main reason to go to Paracas is for the tour to Isla De Plata. It is a very popular thing to do in peru and so was one of the most touristic things we have done so far, but none the less was worth going to see. It was only a short 2 hr tour, as you are coming into the island you start to see swarms of Birds, ever shade of rock was covered, I don´t think I have ever seen so many in my life. The main attractions are the Humbolt Penguins and we were treated to a sight of a few of them, which was excellent as this was the first time I had seen Penguins in the wild.
The other attraction was the sea lions and it was brilliant how close you could get to them on the boat while they were lying in the sun or swimming in the sea. The sea lions had also recently had there pups and there was an absolute swarm of them on one beach with an incredible noise of yelps and growls coming from the mothers and there pups.
As the tour was only two hours we managed to get on our way to Huacachina which was about an hour away. We got a taxi to a hostel from Ica and then took a tour around some of the wineries. They were quite different, as they had sand dunes spread around them. These wineries were also the birth place of pisco sour, we had a few shots of the stuff, (becky was not the biggest fan) and a tour around the wineries where they explain the making of the pisco using very traditional methods.
After stumbling back to our hostel from the taxi, we had a look around Huacachina. It is an Oasis in the middle of miles of Sand dunes and is quite an incredible sight. We were just in time to walk to the top of the sand dunes and watch the sunset!
Pretty frantic but funpacked day.
