Melaka is a different, beautiful city, full of religion, food, and no traffic rules.
We arrive to a tiny, bustling city, 30deg sticky, humid heat. We make our way to our hostel in again, china town. Our taxi driver was interesting, but nice. In the short 15minute drive, He told us his life story, and key points of interest around the city.
The owner of "The RoofTop Guest house". Was fantastic, when we arrived she had a chocolate cake being made for the guests, she served us a Litchi drink and spent 15 mins explaining all the best places to go to, what to eat, what do see, what to do, And we're to go.
After getting settled into our private twin bedroom, typical of most guest houses. We ventured into the city, trying not to get hit by vehicles. To get a bus ticket and taxi ride to Mersing In a couple days.
We tried a recommended Indian food Resteraunt, called Salvam. Authentic Indian food, Served on a banana leaf and the best part was, you ate with your hands! The food was fantastic. It was situated right on the edge of Little India.
We met up with a Austrian couple who were also staying at our guest house. And went for a walk all along the river and exploring the city. We came across a massive lizard/Reptile around 4' long. Ended up loosing a game of Malaysian Checkers, and got burnt by the sun.
That night the Austrian couple, a guy from London, Alyssa and I, ended up at an empty karaoke bar drinking and solving the worlds problems! ( like every good intoxicated conversations ). The best part was on our way back. Where we came across a bunch of locals, around our age, barbecuing on the side of the river. We stopped to say hi, and a few mins later we were sharing their food and exchanging stories! The food was fantastic, a good taste of authentic local food. And a great end to a long, hot day.

Reesa Devlin I think the most interesting part would be meeting with locals and sharing a bit of their life with them.Of course meeting other travellers would also be great to share ideas of what to do and places to go. what kind of foods are you eating? Mum xoxoxox
