Hi Guys,
Mike wrote an awesome blog that didint work for some reason so i will try to write one just as good. he is sulking now so i have to try to remember on my own what he wrote. 15 minutes left on the internet so lets get going!
we arrived on Thursday night quite late. We flew on American Airlines and the plane stalled as we were reversing towards the runway....lights went out..not a good start for poor old Mike.
Our hostel is awesome, we really like it! We went out for thai on the first night which was nice and cheap. Friday we slept in after a restless sleep. We went to a 'diner' for the first time which was kewl. Mike got himself a hot dog and fries ( there goes his health kick). We then went to the Mission which is a latino district. we were on the hunt for some murals but only found a very sketchy neighbourhood. We walked abit further up and came across the Castro. This is the gay district. It was very very kewl and i really liked it. Mike enjoyed reading all the dodgy names for the stores. I also had my first cream cheese bagel HEAVENNN!
We then went up to Fishermans Wharf on the cable cars and yes we hung off the sides and took photos. The streets are so steep so it was like a ride! When we got to the Wharf i had the famous clam chowder in a sour dough roll and Mike got the biggest slice of peperoni pizza you have ever seen (see photos). We also went to pier 39 where there was around 200 sea lions basking in the sun. a very funny sight to see indeed. And have we mentioned the temperature? its so cold. with a pair of jeans, a singlet, shirt and 2 jumpers we are still freezing (you will notice this in the photos also).
Today we went on a tour of the city where we got to see where movies and tv shows have been filmed along with the golden gate bridge. my favourite was Mrs Doubtfire and the Full House house. We also saw the pink ladies which is a street of painted victorian houses. We got to drive through the rich area and stare at the mansions and also china town and little italy. Then this afternoon we went on the Alcatraz night tour. It was really good and well worth it. We got to listen to an audio tour with previous prisoners and gaurds accounts of what it was like. we also heard intersting stories of people like Al capone, THe Bird Man and Machine Gun Kelly. On the way home it was so, so cold! We found an awesome Japanese place to eat dinner where i got to try soft shell crab for the first time. Tonight we are doing the laundry and getting an early night sleep. Tomorrow we go to LA to audition for a show...just kidding. we are catching the greyhound which should be interesting.
Mike is going to write from LA...this time we will save a copy so we dont lose it. Thanks to those people who have sent us messages on here and emails if you want to do it..just click on the links above. you can also email us at [email protected] Please remember beks phone isnt working in the US...damn Optus but we will let you know when its up and running so mike can get his footy updates!

Bek and Mike
