Hi all,
Sorry for the slight delay in blog number 2, I have seemed to draw the short straw as we have done a fair bit since day one, but here it goes!!!
On Friday we took a trip to Recoleta and the cemetery (I know not very rock and roll) but as you can see from the photos it was very beautiful with large marble shrines housing coffins and bones which are clearly visable (see photo) it was after a while rather goolish but still interesting we did get to see the grave of Eva Perones (Evita) this was whsat I thought a slight anti climax as it was not as impressive as some of the other graves, but I think I expected fireworks and a laser light show, but alas that was not the case. We got back to the hostal at around 7:00 and we decided to go for our thrid steak of the week (Mike´s third different cut) had a few beers and then headed for bed for an early start on Saturday!! (FYI we are now on 6 days of solid meat, and Mike has ran out of diffrent cuts to try)
We rose early on Saturday morning (still mangaing to miss breakfast, again) and headed for the tube and trip to the Zoo! The Zoo really was good fun, and the animals seemed to kept in quite humane conditions which still doesnt make it right but it was bearable., (Photo´s to follow). After the Zoo we took a walk to the planterium but we were told that the show was only for kids and the adult show did not start for a few hours so instead of hanging around we took a walk to Palermo Vigjo this is a pretty cool and hip aread of BA, it reminded both of us of So Ho in London it had many cool hang outs, many trendy bars and shops and what all trendy areas need a dedicated candle shop! After spending several hours prousing the candles we decided to head back to San Telmo and the hostal for some much needed meat and beers! We found the customery English bar called Gibralter which of course serves Fish and Chips and Shoperds pie but after eating a small Calf the smell was making us rather ill, but we powered on through and after 8 pints of larger we were invited by some guys from our hostal to go a club called Pacha, we of course after 8 pints jumped at the chance and after a breif stop back at the hostal we headed for the club on the outsirkts of BA. We got into the club at 4:00AM this to us was really strange but it is the norm here and the place was heaving it was rather expensive for BA standards at 10 GBP to get in and drinks being 4 GBP each and the fact that both of us despise Techno music we thought it would be a waste of money but in the end it was all great fun and we danced away untill 7:00AM and eventually rolled into bed at 8:00 AM (crazy).
Sunday was of course a rather late start I stayed in bed till around 2 and Mike and gone around to Marks to go for lunch in a happy happy cafe (this being code for a gay cafe) cleary three was a crowd for this little trip ha ha!!! We got picked up outside the hostal at 3 and went to watch Argentina V Equador in a world cup qualifier at River Plates Staduim this was something we both had beed looking forward to once we arrived at the staium (which was a fair way from the hostal) it was very impressive if not a little shabby but it had lots of charecter and was even mopre impressive from the inside (pictures once again to follow) the match itself was a fairly drab one with Argentina looking very unimpressive both at the back and going forward, the second half seemed to have more pace about it but with Equador leading the way and with a great combination of passes Equador took the lead with a very impressive finish. The Equador fans sitting directly behind us went wild and I was kind of pleased for them but I managed to contain my excitement with a little help from Mark and fear of getting killed!!! Argentina equalised with the last kick of the match thus ending 1 - 1 pretty undeserved but it probably qulled a riot.
Well thats the most interesting points of the trip so far, we are heading to the even colder south of Thursday so we need to purchase some more winter woolies as it´s so so cold here!!! So we are off to watch some much need European football.
Hasta Luego
Andy and Mike.
P.s Sorry the awfull spelling mistakes.
