Got up early and moved on to visit the Loreley statue at St Goarshausen. A friendly coach driver warned us that the whole road between Koblenz and Rudesheim was being closed for a bike race. We needed to move or be stuck for the day.

As you can see by the photograph the weather was beginning to turn for the worse. We were going to have a walk around the old quarter of Koblenz but decided to carry on driving (just as the rain was doing). Again stunning views, schloss (castles) at every turn pity the weather was against us. Sorry Koblenz catch you another time. Crossed the Rhine and started our drive back down towards Mainz. Found a campsite called Camping Schinderhannes and booked in for a couple of days. A wooded site with access to lots of country walks. Bella enjoyed running along the tracks by the wheat fields and we enjoyed a couple of days just relaxing and strolling through the local villages.

What a great drive up the Rhine valley to Boppard. The road follows the edge of the river with the railtrack along side the road, fortunately the speed limit forces you to admire the scenery. Stopped for a look around the town, as you can imagine very touristy though nice non the less. Looking for a campsite for a couple of days and didn't fancy the constant noise of the trains and shipping so opted to move up into the Hunsruck hills.

OUCH! Had my insert removed and gum stitched plus fitting of the temporary plate. Mouth so numb and sore I could only manage ice cream for a couple of hours. Luckily I could struggle down a wine or two watching the river cruisers later on :-)
