We woke to an empty apartment, Luke and Bec having already headed in to work and it was bliss. I successfully hunter-gathered breakfast materials, as well as 2 opal travel cards, and we sat down to read the artistically scribbled list of possible activities which the guys had left us to help organise our day.
We headed into the city as over-awed little church mice and we were jostled through the towering CBD on our way to the harbour bridge. En route we spent a confusing half hour trying to understand some of the exhibitions in the museum of contemporary art before striding across the monstrous single span of the harbour bridge in the sunshine.
Having crossed the magnificent feat of engineering we wandered around the north shore before returning to Central and having Chinese takeaway on the waterfront. We walked through the open air stage for Aida and on to look out over the harbour at Mrs Macquires chair before walking on through the botanic gardens. The day was warm and still and the blue skies made everything look exactly as it should to us enthusiastic tourists. The national gallery was nice and cool and included a constable and 2 picassos but we soon moved on, back into the city and took a trip up the Westfield tower which gave us a brilliant birds eye view of the city and its waterways.
We trundled home with the commuter rush and had pizza and wine whilst discussing the intricacies of bogins, cockroaches and our plans for tomorrow.
