The morning was quite a struggle but will significant amounts of willpower we managed to get out of the flat and headed off to battle the public transport system. The imaginatively named 'big buddha' was perched on top of a very picturesque peak with a beautiful monastery at its base. The climb up nearly killed me but it was worth it to see the view which the 60ft high bronze statue surveyed. Nearly in the clouds the steeply wooded slopes rose out of view, with the monastery nestled in the valley far below. We descended to the 'Temple of the 10 thousand Buddhas' where monks were chanting amongst the ornate guilded pillars and the atmosphere was infused with incense. With the chanting still ringing in our ears we returned to the bus stop and wound our way back down the mountain to find the train back. Bob was fixated by the overt nail clipping in the train but we returned to the flat where the guys had had a fortunately quiet day.
Sam finished checking his colic and we dashed out for supper at the luminous Thai restaurant with Leah and Gregorious, which was both tasty and entertaining. We returned to the flat and proceeded to fall asleep infront of a film before bidding good night to our hosts.
