Ko TaoWe arrived in Ko Tao after another really choppy boat ride from Samui. I locked myself in the toilet for about an hour being sick while Kla had to deal with all the people being sick into bags all round her. The weather was nice and hot which was a good start.Back to school; we chose a place called Ban's Diving Resort to complete our PADI course. After checking in we had to go straight to the classroom to begin studying! After our mental journey here we just wanted to sleep, not study.First day of diving - was in the swimming pool. All geared up in our wet suits, BCD's (buoyancy control device!!!), massive air tanks, fins, goggles looking like k*** , we were underwater for 2 hours practising the basics.We had an American couple in our group as well as a Swedish girl. We went out for drinks after the classroom session which was later on. We were intending on an early night but it turned into lots of whiskey buckets and pool games. By 2am we called it a night as we were to meet at 7.15 for our first 12 meter sea dive.Second Day of Diving - Kla was feeling worse for wear and threw up before even boarding the boat. Luckily she convinced our instructor (Karen) she gets really bad sea sickness, Karen put together all of Kla's equipment while she stared at the horizon stopping her 'sea sickness'. Luckily I felt fine :). When underwater Kla's hang over magicly disappeared and the dive was amazing. Breathing was a little dodgy as we were 12 meters under water, but once we got used to it everything went well! :D We saw lots of sting rays, nemos, puffer fish, eels and loads of tropical fish.Had a half hour break before doing a second dive, which was also awsome!!!!! :)Retured to lots of sleep.Third and final day of diving - Up again to meet at 7.15, two dives today to 18 meters. The dive sights were really good, saw a rare yellow box fish and lots of trigger fish which apparantly are more scary than sharks!! Finished off the class work, and sat our exam which was really easy. PADI completed :D wahoooooooo!!!!!Celebration time - lots more whiskey buckets, drinking games and more drinking. Had a great night. However the morning/whole day was hell for me and not for Kla :(We booked a boat back to mainland and are now in Champon, heading to Malaysia tonight on a night train. fiona (mum B) AMAZING YOU DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!! What more can we say to you two, well done of course we reading your blog , every day we look to see what you have been doing, i am very jealous, as long as no sharks show themselfs you know me Kla, Shame about the whisky bits :) remember Tenerife going to see the dolphines????? I dont think Trigger fish have teath as big as Sharks??? Are you going to another hot place? We still have some snow on the ground cos it is so cold, Becki snow all melted on the Friday but your car still had snow on it today. We might even get some more next week. just to let you know we have put the Christmas tree up tonight, i will send you a picture, we love you so much, Paul is fine and comes out at food times or when we make lots of noise, and he does like Kisses.
