Mikaela And Lawrence's World Adventure
Cusco to Macchuu Picccu!!!!
Hostel was realy nice in Cusco, we ventured into town for some dinner, had a pizza and g.bread. Everywhere's busy :) We needed to book our trip to Machu Piccu :D We did try to book it with our receptionist but translating on google translater can only get you so far.... So we headed into town!
We booked our bus and train to Macchu Piccu which cost us $90 so wasn't too bad. We spent the rest of the day at a market which we had found which sold hundreds of Alpaca clothes! We definately got excited because we could finally start shopping for all our souvenirs to take home. We found a really cheap food place to eat as well which is good because moenys is getting low!!!
MACHU PICCHU!
Up ridiculously early at 5.30am :O Went to the travel shop to get our bus to find the shop shut and the lady waiting in a car instead!! We jumped in the car and then realised we were actually now hunting for a bus for us to get on to get us to Macchu Picchu...we hadn't actually been booked on one!!! We were flying about in this car when she suddenly flagged down a bus which luckily had two free spaces! Thank god.
We got to Ollyantambo at 9am for our train which wasnt untill 12. Sat and had an amazing omelette in the sun and got harrased by the oldest lady we've ever seen. Not only was she old, but also homeless and wanted to have everything we owned! Whilst eating our breakfast she tried to steal our carrier bag, our pens, our money and Law's Diary!! Once she had waddled off after the fourth 'NO' she bent down and urinated on the curb!!!
We got on our train and got to Aguas Calientas at about 1.30. We managed to find a hostel with the most annoying receptionist! Eventually checked in and had a walk around, we quickly realised it's soooo expensive here! Its touristy and everyones rude! We booked our bus tickets to Macchu Picchu for the morning....first bus at 5am! Nutters. We also booked our journey back to Cusco for the next day because here is such a hole! hahhaa.
Up at crazy 4.30am today. Terrential rain outside sooo cannot wait to spend the entire day climbing Machu Picchu!!! Chucked on the ponchos and headed for the bus station...walked outside and realised the 'terrential rain' sound was a waterfall!! The queues were really long but we managed to still get there really early for good photos.
Machu Picchu was really cool, hundreds of Inca ruins everywhere which we could walk around. Huanapicchu was really good too, at 9am we climbed it to get to the top so we could get good photos. Luckily the rain stopped so we werent too soaked. Our feet were though in our Toms :( The stairs on the way up were absolutely crazy, they were so thin and knackering!! We bumped into Pete at the entrance which was random, although he wasn't with Humphrey now :( We all climbed the mountain together and when at the top had lunch. The views were incredible, well worth the 1 hour struggle up! Coming back down...we almost died on the stairs! Maybe walking boots would have helped!
On return to Aguas Calientas we quickly had showers and got a massive pizza and a few well deserved beers :) We waited alll afternoon and night for our train back to Ollyantambo and then we caught a shared minibus back to Cusco. Absolutly Shattered and cannot wait for bed.
MASSIVEE lie in the next day. The we went shopping to the markets and bought hundreds of winter clothes! 12 pairs of gloves!!! 12 hats... 8 scarfs...lots of bags.. jumpers.. and trousers! Wahooo.
We needed to book our bus Nasca to see the Nasca lines. we decided to turn up at the bus station and hopefully get a bargain... and we did! 90 soles on Fully Cama Seats...LUXURY! Not long now and lots to fit in before home. Getting excited :D:D xxxxxxxxxxx
