greetings from beautiful Dubrovnik! After arriving at the airport at Zagreb bec and I were about to jump on a plane to split and then travel down to dubrovnik by ferry, but after a long, hot day with some rude locals and heavy backpacks we decided to make a change of plan and fly directly to dubrovnik. we arrived at midnight and caught a cab to a hotel that we had found in our lonely planet books.we woke up early to a pretty pathetic breakfast of bread with some strange smelling cajun spread and indian tea! We quickly packed up and head off into the old town where we met up with Chantal at the bus stop. we were approached by a local named Eddie who offered us accommodation 20m away, we went to have a look and found, to our delight that it was a private apartment with own bathroom, fridge, kettle etc and when we looked out the window we could see the water and grapes growing on a vine! we were very impressed as the price per night 150 kunas which is approx $30AU per night. once settled we walked through the city which is beautiful, built inside a fortress the streets are made of marble, with a big fountain in the middle with cold fresh water that everyone swarms to to splash their faces and fill their bottles. we contined down to the water which was crystal clear and had a swim and a sunbake. now we are off to have a seafood dinner and gelato and walk around the top of the fortess. hope all is well at home Solberg x
