Arrived in Montreal and got a taxi to the hostel. We were dreading being in a hostel again after the last few weeks but it was surprisingly nice and our 10 bed dorm only had one other person in it and our own bathroom which had a hairdryer etc so that was good.

The guy who is in our room didn't get back till about 1am and was up at 6am so it was like having our own room this morning which was good we just chilled out and had a not very nice breakfast, it is free but consists of stale bagels and butter and black coffee...Luckily i have some marmite left which made it bearable. Then we decided to go on a wander around the city! We walked to Catherine Street to look at the shops and have a look round. I bought a pair of jeans so i have a couple for when it is cooler which it is unfortunately more and more. This must be the first summer in ages where it has been mild in Canada and also the first in years where England has been really hot. Trust us to pick this summer to go away, although we have had sun for pretty much the last 6 months so i don't think i can complain. After looking round Catherine Street we went to the old town and went into the Basicila Notre Dame which was absolutely gorgeous! Then we went to Jacques Cartier Square which is absolutely lovely and somewhere Mum and Dad would love! We walked back to the Latin Quarter which is where our hostel s and had some drinks and dinner at a nice Italian restuarant. We couldnt have picked a better spot to stay at s we are pretty close to everywhere where we want to be, and there are some nice bars and restaurants and it also seems to be the centre for the Comedy Festival which is happening in Montreal. Unfortunately all the English and American acts don't start until after we leve which is a shame but there is still a good atmosphere.
The guy in our room wasn't there when we got back and again didn't get in until we were in bed.

Today we went to the Olympic Village. Took us about 1 and half hours to get there but we refuse to take taxis etc as we cant really afford it. Took a tour of the stadium which was great as Gem got to see where her Mum competed in the 4x 100m relay. They have made the swimming pool area is now open to the public as a swimming pool and hasn't changed much but the running track is now used for concerts and sports matches etc.
We walked up to the Olympic Village which has now been turned into a residential home and had some photos taken there. Then we wandered up to Little Italy for some food. By the time we arrived we had been walking for about 5 hours and were shattered. It was a gorgeous day so we sat outside and had a lasagna. Then we went back to the hostel and chilled out...More people have arrived now and that is a bit annoying as people are coming in and out when we are trying to sleep but that is just the joys of hostels.

Today wasnt very nice so we went to the cinema to see "The Hangover" which was hilarious. Took the tube as the walking has tired us out no end and we want to go for some drinks tonight and dont want to end up falling asleep like we did in San Franciscio. We went home and got ready then went to one of the bars across the road and had some sangria. The clouds had disappeared and it had turned into a lovely night so we walked up to Prince Aurthur Street which Aunty Valerie recommended and had a nice meal at a Greek retsuarant. It was bring your own Alcohol as well which made it a lot cheaper. I had Lamb Chops with Greek Potatoes and rice which was lovely. Then we walked to St Laurent Street and had a few drinks. There are some really good bars around but tipping for every drink you buy really depleats our funds so we didnt stay out late.

The next day we walked down to the Old Port and had some lunch in the square. There was a huge Pirate ship at the port and also a gorgeous Yacht which i promise to buy for you Dad if i ever get the money. I could just picture you and Mum sipping GIn and Tonics on the back deck! We walked back to the hostel and sta in the garden and read for a bit before going to St Denis street and watching the festival for a bit and then went for an Indian meal where we could still see everything that was going on. We got an early night as we have an early flight to Prince Edward Island in the morning. But true to form whenever we need a good nights sleep we cant have one. I woke up at 1am to find all the lights on and a guy reading then about half an hur later 3 French guys arrived and were yelling at the top of their voices until i gave them the death stare. They then went out and came back at 5am laughing and shouting. We had to be up at 5:45am and i didnt mange to get back to sleep so i slept on the plane but it was only an hours flight
