As the bus from cusco was a 24hour journey I decide to book myself into the "first class full coma" service... This all backpackers will feel is a treat that long bus journeys require/deserve... It was easy to sleep that night we had left at 10am and I watched films and listened to music all day, the comfort was great and I woke for the first time at 8:30 when I was being offered a s***e piece of bread and cup of coffee for breakfast...
We arrived in Lima about 10:30 and I decided that as there was a bus heading to Trujillo at 12, I'd skip hureaz and go straight to the mud pyramids... The bus was another 10 hour journey and we arrived there just after 10pm, I was pretty wacked from the 35hour bus experience from cusco and found a hostel and went straight to bed... The pyramids where easy enough to visit and I booked onto a tour for the small price of £4... The rough guides and online tips recommend the chan chan complex and Huaca del sur and Huaca de la Luna, as one the most sees of Peru but if your ever in the area just pop in... There certainly not pyramids being rectangular shaped gives that away and there isn't much to them... The carvings and wall displays outside of the buildings are great to see but in honesty I could have quite easily missed this place and not have been to bothered... Trujillo its self was a very very sleepy town, one that I was warned was full of old gangsters and drug dealers... They must have been on holiday the three days I was here as it was a very busy ghost town with more chicken restaurants than essex...
I was eager to get to Mancora for some sunshine and chill out on the beach or poolside... The bus journey here was a 10hour one that left at 8pm and arrives in mancora at 6am.. I booked just a standard ticket and suffered the tossing and turning of a long nights sleep... I managed to get straight into the point hostel which looked great but time would tell... It was 50yards from the beach, the pool was clean and whole hostel had a great chill out feel to it... I had already decided I was gonna stay here til my Peruvian soles ran out and that Ecuador would be my next post... Where and when would have to be arranged after a good chill out...
I spent the next five days just lazing around the pool, walking the beach to town, and eating basically... It was just what I needed, there was some great English folk here to hang out with and get to know so that also helped... We shared stories and gave advice for next destinations as all had come from different areas of south america to be here to chill... My time here was great and just what I needed, (improved white bits) haha... I booked a bus for Guayaquil in Ecuador which apparently was a great base to make plans and decide on further destinations in Ecuador... So onto Ecuador it was where the American dollar was currency, people only spoke of the Galapagos islands and Further north i headed....
But all that could wait for the next chapter: Ecuador the land of dollars
Peace out much love Micky xxx
