Greetings
Ricky Singh (Yogi) has advised me that I don\'t make many friends. He also foretold me future love, when would be a significant moment in my life (it\'s soon) and where I\'m going to settle. Unfortunately he also got me to swear to secrecy, so friend, you\'ll just have to wait.
Just 1 week in and it\'s just not like working in a chocolate factory. The CDM (that\'s for my fellow-trainers) would have melted long ago and the email count has gone right down. I think my hair is reviving naturally in fact.:)
Most importantly, I believe that the 4th test is shown live on ESBN, but I\'ll believe it when (or if) I see it from the desert fort town of Jaisalmer from Thursday. Forget the sightseeing for 5 days (if it lasts that long).
So far, my delayed start coutesy of BA has not impacted on the sightseeing, (incidentally, the in-flight cuisine was better than normal as you could shop from the real food outlets at Heathrow for free before flying). In Delhi, I was immediately offered all sorts from the local rent boy - is it this beard-thing that\'s making me irresistable?
The big film at the moment is The Rising, a supposedly-true account of the Indian revolution against the cruel English, starring Mangal Pandey, a true Indian hero (I later read that this was makebelieve, as he was a drugged-up misfit with a craving for power). His dashing moustache and heroic deeds adorn every billboard - sadly, no English versions or subtitles available, so I gave it a miss.
Took in the Red Fort and Old Fort, and the national rail museum, with about a hundred old locomotives and carriages largely built in N England and Glasgow. Then a great sitar/tabla performance starring obviously very famous performers on drums and vocal/dance (more strutting really, with bells around his ankles).
Onto Jaipur for brief 2nd to the Palace of Winds and the Royal Palace, museums (including a map of India on a single grain of rice) and a couple of fantastic hill forts. More of the same to come as I travel through Rajasthan over the next week or two. Are the 4th/5th tests back-to-back?
