At breakfast time we started to pass between Italy and Sicily. The mainland was on our starboard side and Sicily on our port side. Mount Etna was clearly visible. The sun was shining as I walked my mile and the temperature was 18 with a bit of a cool breeze.
We passed through the Straits of Messina at lunch time. I didn't realise the mainland and the island were so close. I saw the pilot just after he disembarked.
When I was playing deck quoits (lost in the semi-final), we sailed by Stromboli, which vented black smoke occasionally.
The women are slaughtering the men in Battle of the Sexes. We seem to be getting the more difficult questions. On a brighter note, I won my 14th gold sticker in the morning Individual Quiz. I also had my hair cut again. It was a lot calmer this time!
We also won the Masquerade Challenge and the Picture Quiz. We gave the wine to the two ladies on our Syndicate Quiz team and the cocktail to a couple of Aussies who didn't know many British comedians!
During the Syndicate Quiz, Paul Daniels and Debbie McGee strolled in and out.
