Hi again. Made it to Cairns, which in itself was quite exciting as it was always the end mission for the East coast trip. Now the trip has evolved, but couldn't help getting the "bloody hell, I'VE MADE IT" feeling when I got off the dreaded Greyhound, my last trip in a while I hope!
Got here and booked up a trip to Cape Tribulation and Port Douglas in the rainforest for a bit. Went up there and off on a cruise of the Daintree river Croc spotting. Saw a big old male Croc called "Scar Face", for obvious reasons. Didn't really want to mess with him, not too happy looking. In the Rainforest stayed at a lovely hostel resort, went on some walks and explored a bit. At night it was really noisy, really dark and really quite scary. The folks in the dorm and I thought "hell, lets trek 2kms to a bar to see a local band". That was scary in itself, but then we were faced with cane toad licking abbos and made a swift exit after a quick pot. A real "cultural experience". Port Douglas was much nicer for a night, a little Sunday market and a generally classier place I say. The rainforest killed me though, those Mozzie love me. Combined with the bed bugs I gained in Mission Beach a total of 22 bites now occupy my right arm, and just my right arm. I look like a bit of a freak.
Back to Cairns, and today I went on a Reef Mission aboard "Passions of Paradise" which came highkly reccomended. I am now a pro snorkeller and had an awesome day. So many fish of all shapes, sizes, colours. It really is another world down there. A real experience of a life time. Bought a disposable waterproof camera and used all 27 shots, so maybe one might be ok if I ever get it developed! Really good food onboard too.
Spend a few more days chilling in Cairns and then onwards again.
Thanks to all of you who have emailed me to say your actually reading this by the way! Its giving me insperation to actually carry on writing it! Woo saa XX
