Skiied both the ski areas in Queenstown in the end, and as a Kiwi said to me "compared to the 3 valleys its like playing mini golf", and that was exactly it! Still managed two good days though, just not the kind of place you could spend a week at. Start of the winter festival was good, cold but good. Saw some Fireworks and that!
Moved on to Dunedin, where I hired a car for 3 days and went down the Catlins coast to Invercargill. Not a hell of alot there! The roads were awful, but some amazing coastal scenery. Its probably the closest I'll ever get to the South Pole too.
Dunedin is a bit dead, as its student holidays and its a big university town, so leaving tomorrow. Apparently its Edinburgh of the South, but having never been to Edinburgh I can't really compare them! Going onto Lake Tekapo for a night to do some star gazing, there is no natural light for miles around so its supposed to be amazing.
Can't change my flight dates out of New Zealand, so got a few more days to waste around the Christchurch area. Might head to Kaikora and check that out, but just where ever the wind takes me really!!
