Since my last blog I visited Canberra.... ok.... not very exciting... but saw Paliment House and went out for a bevy with Michael Jordan who is doing well. He managed to warn me about the dangers of Australia to a nice girl like me travelling alone.... "its a very safe country, except don't hitchhike, watch the abos, and snake, sharks, spiders, crocs, sitting on grass and lifting tin cans".... its a very safe place to be! Thanks for that Mike!
Made it to Sydney which is awesome. Literally ran for the harbour and was amazed at the harbour bride and opera house, as you can tell from the many many pictures I have just uploaded! It is quite a sight though, and one I didn't think I'd ever really get to see! Went on a night out to the "World Bar" with some hostel pepz, but over drinking from tea pots as did it in New Zealand, where they don't care so much about binge drinking and don't insist on glasses!
Went on an exploration of "the rocks" area... where the first settlers lived in bad conditions... its nice now though! Also checked out Manly beach... but the weather was a bit rubbish! Returning here at the end of my trip so saving the blue mountains and beaches for October when the weather is better!
One of the best things I've done was go to a concert at the Opera house. I felt very cultured! Never seen a full orchestra and conductor before and it was impressive, even if I was in the cheap seats with other backpackers and paupers! It was called the "classical mystery tour" - a bit of a tribute to the Beetles! Was loads of fun, they got everyone up dancing and the music was great! I wished I talented enough to play like that!
The journey North continues.... stopping in some surf towns for the next week starting with Newcastle, before onto Byron, and Surfers for my birthday where Si and I are going to get drunk in a mini Canada reunion! Yay!
