Yesterday was more or less a perfect day! We started the day by walking to the International Student Exchange Centre (ISXO) and the International Student Centre (ISC). We had some issues we had to solve at the places, I had a conflict in my course timetable which I wanted to solve as soon as possible and we had way too much luggage to carry around during these three weeks before we get our residence rooms. Within half an hour both problems were solved as we got to leave our luggage at the ISC (free of charge!) and I changed the course I had a conflict with into a much more interesting course.
At the ISC we also booked a trip to the Niagara Falls on 6.9 where we'll go with other international students.
After all that hassle we went on a residence tour to 89 Chestnut Recidence where we will stay this fall (31.8-~20.12). The residence is almost too good to be true! It looks like a five star hotel and it's located right in downtown. And the dining room... You can eat and drink almost anything there, from salads, pizzas and hamburgers to thai food, steaks and much more. Like Jukka said: the only bad thing about the residence is that we have to move out in December already.
Soon after the amazing residence tour we met Donna Brown, our host through Hospitality Club (www.hospitalityclub.org) that we're staying with for the next week. We took the bus to Pickering where she lives, which is about 50 minutes from downtown Toronto. She has a lovely family and right now there's a girl from Germany staying with her too (Toni). We started talking to Toni and it seems that we have more in common than we thought. With some people it just clics and you get really well along with them, and with her it just clicked. After talking to her for some time we decided to go to New York together (25.8-30.8) and we already booked the tickets too. Unfortunately we didn't have so much time with Donna as she went to baseball practice with her son and we went out for a drink with Toni, but I hope we'll get to know her better this week!
