Cairo - Doha - Melbourne
Day 11 & 12
Ahhh….woke up at a leisurely hour this morning. On the way to breakfast we videoed the course we have to take to get there. Wait'll you see it and then you'll know what l mean by taking a horse and a cut lunch. Anyway, it was fun to video it….l've never used the camera that way before and all the way to the airport l took a video of the traffic. Should be heaps better than photos….trust me to work something out just before we leave the place.
So after breakfast we wandered into the mall where l bought some Egyptian cotton sheets - couldn't leave Egypt without those, then went back to our room, finished packing and wandered down to the Tea Lounge for a coffee. We hung around there for about an hour before ordering a light lunch of soup finished off with a chocolate mousse to share. I didn't feel like a cappuccino so l ordered a flat white coffee and to my surprise the waiter came out with a silver tray containing a slim silver coffee pot, a tall slim silver genie looking bottle and a beautifully decorated glass with saucer then proceeded to pour me what looked like hot water from the coffee pot and a couple of drops of some clear liquid from the genie bottle. I looked at Craig and he shrugged his shoulders as if to say "don't ask me" so l took a sip of whatever it was and it tasted delicious! We asked the waiter what was in the slim bottle and he said it was rosewater. So essentially white coffee is hot water with a few drops rosewater added….yummmmy.
The rest of the day has just been spent at airports and in planes and cars. Currently we're sitting in the first class lounge at Doha airport. We're waiting for our connecting flight to Melbourne which leaves here at 1am. Should be able to get a bit of a sleep on the plane…l've had a couple of glasses of wine to make sure of that…hehehe.
So, we're back home again and l can cross Egypt off my list of "to do". Now l'm just trying to make sense of this blog and upload some more photos.
