WARNING: My language studies are seriously impacting my English grammar. So this post may (read: will) contain run-ons and erroneous commas. It's okay, you'll be fine.
I don't have a picture from today. It rained. 'Twas yucky. Instead, I chose a picture quote of my go-to verse.
So, I don't know if it's the water here or what, but my skin looks AMAZING. Like, I think I'm glowing lol. & I feel even better than I look. It's pretty awesome. I didn't want to blog today. Not for a lack of words, but rather a lack of the proper words. I'm still kinda overwhelmed with (positive) emotions. Sometimes I definitely think I am in over my head. Sometimes I want to go find a corner and just lay there. Sometimes I want to be at home watching Hulu or Netflix for hours, but I know I don't want that for the rest of my life. Those things are not going anywhere and I really did not notice they were missing until a friend here mentioned television.
My feelings go back and forth, but they always come back to a good place. Sometimes it's when I see a stranger petting a stray dog. There are soo many strays here. The porteños look after them like they're their own. No, Mama, I have not touched any dogs. Or cats.
Other times, I'll see a mom chastise her child. I'm pretty sure 2-year-olds are "terrible" in every culture. It warms my heart because I remember how small of a barrier language really is. Cultural differences aren't roadblocks, just potholes. They can be annoying, but they remind us to tread softly. Differences oftentimes are neither good nor bad. (Make no mistake, sometimes they are. For example, cannibalism. Nope. Never going to be acceptable to me, and not because of my eating habits. Now, it's not wrong because it's different. It's wrong and also different. Eh, my opinion.)
Wellllll, that's my bit for today. I purchased my transportation card for the bus, train, & subway today. Funny how my first time on a subway took place nowhere near New York. I also went to orientation at the university. 3 of my friends are in my class :) tomorrow is our first real day.
Chao!
