To honor my fellow travelers, my friends, the locals and the amazing people I've met during my travels, I decided to write my last blog update in english. I apologize for the misspellings and the mistakes there will be and hope that you will find it readable anyway.
I can't believe that 3 months has passed so fast! It feels like I've only been gone for a few weeks…
It has been 3 month filled with amazing experiences. I surpassed my boundaries and did things I never thought I would do. I had the best time of my life.. I had the worst time of my life. I smiled, cried, fought and enjoyed myself.
I've climbed The Great Wall of China, I saw The Terracotta Army, beautiful gardens and temples. I crawled the Cu Chi tunnels and shot a M60. I went to a hundred markets and went crazy shopping. I've been on so many boat trips including two beautiful days in Halong Bay. I road a water buffalo, I went jet skiing, I was caught in a typhoon, visited zoo's, road scooters, went snorkeling, stayed at crappy hostels. I slept in a hallway and took a shower with a cockroach. I saw some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. I climbed and jumped from waterfalls. I went hiking, trekking and camping in the mountains and in the jungle. I swimmed with elephants and I was riding them. I went river rafting, zip lining, abseiling and stayed with a local family. I went to festivals, went out dancing and drained a bar for alcohol. I saw sunrises and sunsets. I went diving, saw a shipwreck, dived through caves. And I had hours of hours of smiles, laughs and talks. I could continue forever... The memories go through my head like a movie...
I met the most amazing people and made friends for life. My wonderful G-Adventures families, my truly amazing friends in the Philippines, the lovely Dutch a******s, the fantastic people in Thailand, the lovely people from Coral Grand and my crazy, sweet and amazing diving buddy. My travels would not have been the same without you, you made it complete… You made it perfect!
I learned so much while I was traveling. About the different cultures and the amazing people behind them. I learned about the difference between europe and asia and I would like to share a little.
The traffic in asia:
Red, yellow, and green light means the same.
If there a road blocks, just drive slalom.
If you want to cross the road; close your eyes, walk slowly and hope for the best.
Hunk, hunk god dammit!
You don't need a drivers license to rent or drive a motorbike.
Mom, dad, kid1, kid2, baby and an animal - maybe a full-grown pig - fits on one scooter.
There easily fits 24 people in a mini wan.
- And 9 people in a tuk tuk.
It's okay to drive in the emergencylane and on the sidewalk.
If you can walk, you can drive!
... But also I learned about myself. I was robbed, attacked, yelled at, called names etc… but I survived. Even when it was rough I got through it and even though it was close, I never gave up. I can now look back and say: 'I did it. I made it, and I loved it.'
It's with a heavy hart that i'm now leaving Asia. It has been so amazing. It has truly been like a fairytale, like a dream there came true. It was my dream, and it came true.
My body is covered in bruises, scars, bites and scratches. I have a huge scar in my forehead and my foot is covered in bandage.. I found muscles I didn't even know I had! My bags are broken and dirty but filled with memories, souvenirs and dirty laundry - so here I come mom!
My travels has come to an end and it's time to go back to reality. Now I will find my way back to Denmark, back to responsibility and routines but also back to my loved ones - and last but definitely not least, Danish food! I wish I could stay traveling forever, I don't want to go back and have to wear shoes or pants, or get up in the morning! But I will love to see my friends and family again, at least for a little while, until I decide to go traveling aging ;-)
I want to thank my fellow travelers one last time.. It was amazing to meet you all. I would do it all over again if I could and I wouldn't change a thing.
So… To the people who are still traveling: Safe travels, have fun, take care and remember that I hate you a little bit. ;-)
To the people who truly touched my heart: My travels would not have been the same without you guys. Thank you for everything… For the memories, for the laughs and for the talks. I will miss you, so much. I will see you in the UK, France and New Zealand.
Thank you, with all my heart.
