A wet and wild weekend on the Whitsundays!

The Avatar was a big ole boat; lots of space for soaking up sunshine and sea air and torrential rain. Despite some unfortunate weather, we still had lots of fun on the boat and the sun did come out a few times! It was a little rough on the first day...I had to find my sea legs quickly! Now am fully fledged sailor and only fall over occassionally.

Did lots of snorkelling, although we didn't meet anybody quite as fearsome as Bruce there (in the picture). Spotted a couple of turtles and was able to swim with one for about 20 minutes which was an incredible experience. They are such peaceful and majestic creatures. We also made a stop at Whitehaven Beach; voted one of the world's five most beautiful beaches...although it was a bit difficult to fathom through the film of mist and rain! I decided that it was probably best to get in the sea; I was so wet already!

I don't think it's a sailor's life for me...had a great time; but glad to be back on dry, still land!
