Ok here i am in NZ and what a happy girl i am .Leaving Bangkok after a brilliant night out with some people id met earlier was not a hugely sad moment as i was so looking forward to the next chapter. So after a long drug induced (legal!) journey to Aukland i finally made it to Nomads Fusion Backpackers, not sure what the fusion was for ! A ladies only dorm and very friendly clean sheets but the bunks are always squeaky. Apparently i missed a porn fest the night before when one of the Ladies!! brought a gentlemen back with her. Said girl in great shame, poor thing ha ha. NOT ME !!!!! mores the pity.
Anyway more about NZ ok Auklands not very inspiring but i did have a good walk around and went up a couple of extinct volcanoes for good views, but my main reason for hangin around in Aukland was to purchase a home on wheels, cue `Olive` impulsive as i am saw a van drove a van bought a van ! Shes a Toyota Town Ace 1988 turbo diesel, First day i drove her she broke down OOps. Luckily i bought AA and it was not a serious defect poor Olive. So next stop was Lake Taupo still in the North Island amazing blue river with thermal streams bubbling up and coming out of the mountain in streams went swimming and it as lush did diving off rocks and had a smashin time also had the pleasure of staying with a scottish lot in their holiday Bach ( wooden home) while Olive was getting a spa. Also at lake Taupo theres a massive lake funnily enough and its also amazing and very cold. Next step was a tiny little fishing hamlet called Himmitangi like a 50s caravan park all in pastel colours also a sign saying dont touch dead seals , nice. Then onto Wellington to catch a ferry to the south island eventually got there with 7 hopurs to spare so had a good day wandering around Welli its a cool vibe city and im going to spend some more time there later i hope. Got the ferry and pulled off at 10.30 to Picton and into a top 10 caravan park . It was quite late so `Gary ` told me to park and pay tommorrow. Very nice place for a look around paid Gary for 2 nights next day and thopught all was well , the next day an anxious looking man came over to me and asked if id paid and was very insistant so i got annoyed and eventually turns out Gary son the take so i sped off and i presume Gary got the sack ! onto various other places the highlights being staying in the middle of a forest after driving off road for 2 hours and seeing the stars with no light polution, bright paraquetes, horse riding on Marahau beach and a fairly good rate, cruising the most awsome scenerey in Olive , Lake Kienere, a really different few hours was spent in the Kiwi center in Hokitika feeding 150 year old eels the size of your leg only longer that was good. Im going on lots of walks called Tramps here and soaking up the scenery, to be honest it dosent sound that amaxing now i write it down but it is ,. At the moment im at Franz Joseph Glazier and in a moment im driving to Fox Glazier a less touristy one just 30 mins from here where im going to book a Heli Hike onto the glazier .As long as i keep the mountains to my left and the sea to my right im heading south and cant go wrong it dosent really matter where i stop each night . The Kiwi people are pretty nice and open and friendly, but i havent met that many people as its a pretty lonesome business on the road, i dont mind though im getting quite used to it, if i want company i can always book into a hostel for a night but i allways seem to attract the odd bods.
Will try to get some more photos on soon but ill warn you now theres lots of views !
Having a terrible time with clothes here as its cold at night i need some trousers or jeans and a jumper , i just cant bring myself to part with my money for the terrible lack of shape style etc not a fashion bothered place at all , i can handle scruffy its my favourite but , any way , im still brown as a nut,. Love all xxxxx
