Im nearly right down the bottom of the South Island now and it just gets better and better. After Franz Glacier i went onto Fox Glacier after some deliberation i didnt do a heli hike i just wandered about a bit , looking ! Ive stopped at so many tiny little townships and lakes it gets hard to remember them all, but Wanaka was really cool they have a funky cinema there with all different seats and an old car to recline in they also make cookies and ice cream i liked it there , i went twice ! Just outside Wanaka heading towards Mt Aspiring mountain range is a place called Glendu and i got my best camping spot ever there right on the edge of a pristine lake , all the water is so clear and the lakes and rivers are the most amazing colours, i went swimming (bit cold) and was right out of my depth but could still see clear to the bottom, then spooked myself and had to get out ! I did a nice walk there too at Diamond lake with awesome views got lots of windy pics of me holding the camera with views .One of my best places so far was Glenorchy, its tiny witha possum fur shop a wool shop and a couple of pubs, very friendly and quite lively for such a small town. I went riding there too and had a magnificent steed that went like stink ,one poor girl fell off twice !apparently there are more horses than people. Its an area where a lot of the lord of the rings was filmed so everyone was an extra or has a story to tell , riding through that scenery was pretty inspiring. The mountain range there is called the Remarkables because they run the opposite direction of other ranges ,which of course is remarkable! The place names here can be quite funny and the Maori names are really hard to pronounce lots of Pukes and PoPi type s. Ive also stopped breifly in Queenstown ,went up the Gondola and down the Luge and did some shopping i now have 2 pairs of jeans ! The weather is a bit colder and wetter down here in Fiordland as expected but im about to turn the corner and head North up the East coast . Oh one thing i forgot is i got very close to a penquin and saw lots of dolphins at Jacksons Bay , nice x
