Melissa's & Gemma's Travels
Wow what an amazing time we are having! It just keeps getting better and better, we are definatly 'living the dream'!
Well we went for our last night out in Townsvillie and had a great time! Everyone ended up having a bit too much to drink, apart from Tom who was on his best behaviour - Well Done! We went to a really bad club, but after a couple of Yager bombs we were loving it. We had a great crowd - Tom, Craig ( in a kilt), Beth & Ryan, Fiona, Matt and the Dutch boys Koen & Martin, & Rachel & Emma. very sad that our good friends Cara & Ross didn't come, but we made up the with drinking fro them! he he!
We all ended up going back to our hostel and the drunk boys caused trouble and the manager came out to tell us off!!!!! uh ohhh!
We left to head back to the little place called Ayr as me and Gem had out bus booked for 2.30 pm on the Sunday. Played a last couple of games of pool with Tom ( who had been trying to teach me how to play for a whole month- still know good by the way) and Gem got a few Zzzzz, before we had to say our sad farewell! We were given a scrapbook with all our friends pictures and kind messages in! We loved it, and yes I did cry (Typical Mel stylie, thanks Tom). Loved the whole bunch, they were amazing people and if it wasn't for them me and Gem wouldn't have lasted so long at Delta! Thankyou so much guys, and we are still missing you!
Anyway we were then on our way back down to Airlie beach AGAIN! We arrived early evening and bumped into Gary who was staying at Delta whilst we where there, it was nice to see his face again. As were back in the Party Town we couldn't resist going out, so along with Gary and other people we met went to a couple of clubs, and Gary being a Fireman insisted on throwing us round his head on the dance floor! Can't believe he picked us up! he he. Th night ended with him chucking me in the Lagoon fully clothed, so a very cold and sorry looking Mel dragged herself back to the hostel!
Being our last night out before the Whitsundays, we went to a Thai restaurant for dinner - which was yummy and a 1st for me and Gem, and headed out again! Not being the sensible girls, we didn't think about the fact that we would be sailing on a boat the next day with hangovers!!!!!
Still the next day we were up bright and early and ran a few erands before heading down to the marina to check in at 12.30pm.
The Boat - Wings looked really small, how they were ever going to fit 25 people + crew on their was beyond us! Any how we jumped on all eager for the next few days. We set off and we were shown round the boat, which consisted of a kitchen/lounge area- which was also our bedroom for the next 2 nights, sunning deck with 2 nets over the water, 2 toliets ( yes for all those people), and the chilling area at the back!
We were then informed of the itinery, which sounded amazing- although we were briefed that we were only allowed 1 shower a day of 30 secs! arghhhhhhhh! My worst nightmare, not washing my hair! Still everyone was in the same boat. he he
Our 1st stop was Maureen's Cove where we went snorkelling. I unfortuanatly was unable to expereince the dive because of my Asthma, but i was not at all dissapointed with the sights from snorkelling! I have never seen so much and so many exotic things in my life! The coral is just beautiful and the fish are so colourful! We set the anchor down for the night and had an amzing spread put on for us. We all sat down to look at the photo's from the day, which was really nice so you saw what the divers got up too. It was a really chilled atmosphere, so they stuck a movie on in our bedroom/kitchen. Great idea but if you are tired you can't go to bed until everyone else has gone to bed. Not that it stopped me as i was asleep within 10 mins!
Up early the next day as the crew were making breakfast at 6am! Early morning snorkel at Manteray Bay where we saw some more wonderful things. Certainly a wake up call going in the sea at that time in ther morning! We then sailed onto Tongue Bay, went snorkalling again where we saw George ( a huge manteray) and many more fish including jellyfish which I got very scared of!
Then we jumped in the dingy to go over to famous Whithaven Beach. Wow what a sight, even with the slightly overcast weather it was amazing! We took the short walk down and spent 2 hours running around in the water, playing games and posing for many of our photo's. These will be coming soon so wathc this space! We then got back on the boat and sailed to Haymen Islands where all the famous stars live. Not that we got off the boat, and the fact that it was dark mind!!!!! Spent another evening chatting with the group, seeing out silly pictures, and then chilling out with another movie.
this morning was yet again another early start to see Elvis! It is a fish by the way and huge at that - it could be a shark!) the skipper 'King Dave' coaxed him towards us with fish food, so it was just amazing. We couldn't see for fish!!!!
We then took the long sail home, reminising of the days we had just expereinced. Back in Airlie again, and heading out with the group tonight at Beaches for some drinks! Me and Gem along with Carrie and Karen - 2 lovely, funny girls we met on the boat will be struting our stuff on the dance floor. Although I don't think we will need to move as my body still feels like it is on a boat! Wierd, whilst writing this I feel like I am at sea! !!!!!!!!! :)
We are off to Cairns tomorrow on the dreaded 11 hour bus journey. then hopefully we will go to port Douglas for a few days and then that is Oz finished for us- for now!!!!!
I hope everyone is well, and enjoying whatever you are up to.
Love to everyone, miss you all
