Up early to sweep and clean the truck floor before breakfast (glamour glamour!) then it was goodbyes all round and back on the road on our way to Cuenca which was about a 9 hour drive.
We arrived later than we'd hoped because of the mists on the mountains, so visibility was terrible. Everyone had felt the altitude so we were really happy to get to the hotel which was lovely called Posada del Angel, about 5 minute walk from the main Plaza with the Old Cathedral.
Our room was lovely, we were so pleased to be in a dry room with hot showers and have dry clothes. We went down stairs to meet the others for a team meal but the restaurant was empty and playing slow 80`s songs, leaning on the depressive, lovely food but the cocktails were horrifically strong! Afterwards Leah, Emma and I went straight back to our rooms and watched TV in bed- bliss!
We all woke up about 8.30am which is a lie in these days, then headed out so Emma could sort out her credit card on the phone. Andy, Leah and Ian went to try and get football tickets to see Cuenca play, I was tempted but really wanted to see the town as previously people had told me it was beautiful.
Emma and I walked round and saw LOADS of churches, they have so many, we also treated ourselves to a pair of jeans each to feel like normal people again in the evenings! The weather was scorching hot, which was lovely after all the cold and rain in Banos. Emma and I had lunch in a place on the main plaza that had really funky lampshades made out of broken crockery, the food was great and it was CHEAP!!
Then we headed back to the hotel to chill out and use the internet as we hadn't been able to be on their since Quito. We both said how nice it was to be able to go about and do our own thing as when you are in a group on the truck it can start to feel abit of a school trip! After a quick lie down I headed to the internet cafe to try and download pictures and they are still unbelieveable SLOW! Thats the only thing that drives me nuts about South America is trying to clear my memory cards of pictures onto this site, should have bought a memory stick! Oh well.
Afterwards I met some of the others where we went for dinner in the same place as Emma and I went for lunch as we loved it so much! Then it was back to the hotel to watch a late night chick flick, yes English speaking TV!!, then to bed.
