Ilha Grande is a beautiful island just off Angra dos reis, 2 hours away from Rio. Most people visit it for a day but I absolutely needed to stop somewhere and this was justperfect for me.

In my 4 days on the island I just chilled and visited different beaches, on Ilha Grande there are no roads so you can only reach the beaches trekking through the island up the hills, it's a hot and sweaty affaire but the beaches are so gorgeous that it's worthwhile.

In case you are lazy you can always hop on one of the many boats that tour teh island.
