So we may well stay in Oz for 2007 - celebrating 100 years of sirf lifesaving - huge party in Perth.
Tick bites not so fun and may well need a lifesaver if i drop dead from it! I hope loughborough would be able to swim here in time!

Hey! I take it you've moved on from Myella by now? Where are you off to next. I'm sure you've heard but Warwick took a 1-2 at the weekend. Excellent result for them and Simon did really well without you two helping out this year.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Emily
Thanks so much for thinking of us about the Myella thing! Can't wait to hear all about it! Your getting to all the places we've been now and I miss it so much!! It seems like years ago now! Make the most of it coz no where is quite like Australia! Hope you're stilling having fun and not too tired from constantly moving around!
Love to you both!
Be safe! (Esp on the motorbikes)

PS The horse I rode (star dust) before I rode him had aparently chucked 3 ppl off 1 with a broken wrist!! They only told me this after I rode him though!

Hey steve and ems,
We are staying at myella now thanks to you and we love it!
We found your (well emily's) entry in the visitors book. Jen and alex - we recommend it to you!
Mel
Cheers steve really useful.
I think cos of funds we have to go with the 11 people fraser island trip but we have gone through quite a small company and hostel so hopefully that will work out ok and i wont have to kick people out of bed!
We are visiting myella and bungalow bay on mag island after reading your journal. Good luck with phd.

Hey guys,
How you doing? I've found somewhere to live, i'm just waiting for my PhD application to be finalised before i move back.
Prices it Oz were pretty good. We joined VIP Backbackers and got a couple of discounts on accommodation that way. www.vipbackpackers.com
Some places you can pay upto $30 each but it's often cheaper to pay for a double rather than dorms - Doulbes can be as cheap as $50 a night so it's work checking to save you a few dollars. We stayedat Greenhouse Backpackers in Melbourne and Wake Up in Sydney both were pretty good.
We booked a "Best of Queensland" package with Koala which gave us some free accommodation in Brisbane and Cairns and also included a Cape Tribulation trip (with Jungle Tours). Their Fraser Island tour was a Self-Drive, 11 people chucked together to drive aoruns a sand island for 3 days and 2 nights. Depending on your funds we thought you would be better to hire a 4x4 and some camping stuff for yourselfs and one or 2 others. It's a bit more expensive but you don't 9 other people to try to please and get out of bed, feed etc. As for Whitsundays - this was pretty good, Koala have a 34ft Catamaran and you visit a couple of perfect white sandy beaches, and snorkeling spots. They also have a dorm rooms on South Molle Island. Which was great - you can use all the hotel facillities, swimming pool, tennis courts, spa etc.
When you get up to Queensland though there are adverts absolutely everywhere for different companies doing Fraser Island and Whitsundays, so you can shop around.
When you get to Oz the best thing to do is ask people that are doing doing the East Coast in the opposite direction to you - i.e. they've just been and done what you're about to go and do.
I know this is a bit long but i hope it helps.
Take care and have fun.

Well Mel you'll be sad that you missed my first proper house rant since you've been gone, it's just not the same without you to argue about the washing up! But the damn manakins ...
Joe
hey guys
have just checked out all your postings for the first time - was clearing out my junk e-mails and found the sta link.
sounds like you're having an absolutely fabulous time, the picture of the big hole to dive in was amazing, i'm sure it was an excellent experience.
reading all your stories makes me wish i wasn't stuck in london at crap work but it cant be helped. maybe once i qualify i'll do a trip round the world; from your experiences to date it certainly seems worthwhile (though i suppose the incident with the police wasn't what you had hoped for)
should be back at warwick for the comp so will try and do the old boys proud by winning medal, though lack of training the last couple of months may slightly harm my chances.
wherever you are now, i'm sure the weather is lovely sunny and warm; i'm looking out at a wet day so very jealous.
take care and looking forward to reading more of your journals.

Dunno if anyone's told you about the Varsity results... Warwick 1 2 3!!! Yey! The freshers were excellent, Simon's team, not that much... Simon got DQed on the ropes for pulling, DQed on the s+t for his stroke, and DQed on the medley for going too early! And yet, they still managed to come 5th out of 7!!!
Warwick rule!
Alison
Some great sunsets... I really like the glow worm cave!!!!

Well you do seem to have been getting up to a lot and it sounds a lot of fun.
I'm on my last day of Norwegian fun. No more thinking £4 cheap for a beer.
