Mel and Stu missing you
So we left Fiji in a glittery seated Taxi and spent 2 hours trying to spend our saved departure tax (which we in the end did not need to pay!) in duty free. Arrived at Auckland where immigration laughed and wished us luck on finding somewhere to stay at midnight. The first place we phoned had a twin room so we headed there. On our first morning in Auckland we walked arou8nd the whole CBD and posh Parnell. The weather is glorious but much colder than Fiji so we had to pop into SUpre to buy some clothes. In the afternoon we visited AUckland museum. Considering it was 1.50 to get in it was excellent. Lots of hands on things to entertain Mel including experiencing a volcano eruption in your own home. Then we walked through the huge park (AUckland Domain) and saw the tropical houses. Today we had our first taster of Kiwi Experience as we headed over the Harbour Bridge to see where NZ decided a fort would protect them from a russian invasion in 1880, saw some big guns, and had "fush and chups" by the beach and discovered that NZ invented the safety screw caps for medicine bottles. ALso saw the factory which had the first flushing toilet in NZ - so we feel we learn lots of useful things on this tour.
Love from the country that prides itself on the fact that it may erupt at any moment,
Mel and stu x
