Isla Mujeres is a small island off cancun's coast. We got the ferry over for $4 return and arrived with no idea what to do. However we soon managed to get on to a snorkel trip for half price where we met the lovely sam and si (who probably paid full price for the trip and are now reading this!) The boat driver spoke no English and dropped us in the middle of the ocean and told us to snorkel and he would pick us up at a different point. We felt totally stranded in a heavy current but enjoyed the reef. We saw lots of barracudas, lipstick fish ( I am sure they have a more botanical name!), cuttle fish, starfish and lots more. Thankfully our guide did pick us up are took us down the shore past dolphin tourist area and turtle farm. Barbequed a whole fish for us for lunch and then drove us back to the harbour. We spent the evening in bars with swing chairs around them watching them set up for what we hoped would be a celebrity wedding and drinking expensive happy hour drinks.
