Last day in Sri Lanka had finally good weather. all of a sudden the beach was packed. no clue, where all those people were hiding in the rain all week.
we walked along beach and wanted to visit the temple at the end. Went through the gate and a guy came immediately and locked the gate with big chains behind us. Nice, locked into a temple. Well, when we came back, we just limbed over the wall. I guess, they wanted us to pay again, before letting us go. So odd there.

Took us 4h to get from UNAWATUNA to the airport. Oh my, what a drive.
First the driver, went to 2 different petrol stations, before he finally filled in a little bit of petrol, didn't take him longer than 1 min. So not quiet sure how much he put in.
We hit bad traffic in Colombo.
And I now can officially say- Colombo is the worst city I have ever visited or seen. I hate it. Everything about it is just horrible. It's loud, dirty, ugly. So much traffic. Nobody has a clue how to drive. Buses, vans, tuktuk s,bikes, scooters, dogs and cows and pedestrians are all on the road and everybody goes everywhere. There is a lot of "beeping" going on, but nobody moves and funnily nobody gets angry. Everybody is just so relaxed.

Cows are honestly walking on the motorway. No idea why. If you are a free cow, you would surly walk to a nice green, quiet spot- no?

Well, we made it to the airport just in time. And one last time, before we left this country, I nearly got ripped off again. The guy at check in wanted to charge me for my bag...whatever...!

Arrived safe I. Kuala Lumpur. The Aussie fam went to the other airport to fly out directly, where I have a wonderful night in an airport hotel in front of me.

So just to summarize Sri Lanka: beautiful country, so much different things to experience and see.the tea plantations and wild life is just amazing. But I have to say, that I struggled a lot with the mentality of the people.
This is for sure THE reason, why I would never come back again. We all had the same feeling and were all happy to leave today. Such a shame...

I am looking forward to Australia now, some sunshine and sports and quality time with the 2 little stinkers...!
