This morning we had to get the trailer looked at - we broke the pump on the water tank somewhere back over the tanami. So, as a treat, the kids got jam donuts and chocolate milk for breakfast - this is possibly the highlight of the trip so far! Then we stopped in at the prison tree which is a huge hollow boab that used to be used to keep prisoners. Later in WW2 it was also used to keep supplies. Now the adventure really begins - we headed off up the Gibb Rive...

Not much news today - packed up in the sticky heat and headed back south to Derby. Stopped in at Roebuck Roadhouse for lunch, and enjoyed some wonderful greasy burgers. Stopped on a bridge and threw some rocks at the crocodiles below.

This morning we drove around the road a bit to One Arm Point which is a small aboriginal community on the coast. Here we had a look in the hatchery and helped feed the fish - the Barramundi gave the kids quite a fright when it snatched the fish from their hand! We also saw Archer Fish which spit water to catch their food, they were cool. At the look out we could see Dugongs in the water. Just when we thought the beaches couldn't get any better - we found parad...

Heading north a bit further we came to Cape Leveque. A nice little caravan park on an amazing beach. Beautiful water, soft white sand and lots of sunshine! We coudn't help ourselves and went for a swim before we set up. Another day and another beach sunset with the whales!

Today we headed north up the Dampier Peninsula. We stopped in for a tour of Willie Creek Pearl Farm. It was really interesting and we learnt how they get the oysters to make the pearls. We also learnt all about how pearls are valued. Isla was very lucky and got to model a string of pearls - it was valued at $7,500 (unfortunately, she couldn't get out the door with them still on quick enough!)
