Monument Valley
Today was really windy. We set off for Monument Valley soon after breakfast. We got through to the visitors center and asked where the horse tours were. They said it was deep down in the park and just under a big monolith called 'The three sisters.' We set the RV in 4wd mode (in our minds at least) and went on the rough, sandy, rocky road. After some brilliant driving from dad, we got to the horse tour place.... but no one was there. we waited for a while and mum went down to the house just south of it. The people told mum that the tour guides were just out getting water. Soooo we waited a bit more until they finally came. We ended up going on the 2 1/2 hour tour. So we did a quick learning course with the horses, and then set off into the canyon. Emmas horse's name was Charlie, Christian's was called Shadow, mine was called Pellet, Mums was called Shot gun and Dads was called Killer, I mean Midnight (The tour guide did that to us too.) The huge rock formations were brilliant. Some of the best ones were Raingod Mesa, Thunderbird Mesa and The Hub. We saw some pictures on the wall of a cave and saw the spot that the snake pit in 'Indiana Jones and the Lost Ark' was filmed. As we got into a canon in between the caves and Thunderbird Mesa there was a HUGE sand blast which blew Christian's, Emma's and Dad's hat off. Luckly, the tour guide got them back for us. we got back to the tour place and went back to the Visitors center as we were about to get out, we looked ahead and saw.... A HUGE SANDSTORM COMING OUR WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We quickly got out and went into the gift shop and then went outside again. we travelled to our Rv park which the sandstorm haden't reached yet. We jumped into the pool, had showers to get clean, and as we went out again.... THE SANDSTORM WAS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So we got a little bit dirty and went into the RV where we didn't leave for the rest of the day.
