Yesterday we rented mountain bikes for the day for $2.5 each. We rode the dusty, bumpy track for 7km to find the Blue Lagoon. Words cannot describe the pain that our butts feel (and Steph's hands) due to the rocky terrain. Despite the rocky road, the scenery outside of town was beautiful. It was funny crossing a rickety wooden bridge across the river when there were motorbikes roaring past you.
The Blue Lagoon is usually packed with fully-clothed Koreans in life jackets screaming and splashing around. Fortunately, we had some time with it to ourselves. The water was so blue (as you may have guessed) and there were various ways of entering: rope swing, jumping from the first part of a tree or the highest part. It was good fun! Max had to be dragged away.
While there, we bumped into some more people we knew! It was an Aussie couple from our street food tour in Hanoi, so it was cool catching up with them while we all mucked around in the Blue Lagoon.
Once we had dried off, we got our head torches and trekked up the mountain next to the Blue Lagoon to find the cave. The cave was huge; no matter how far you climbed into it, you could keep going. It was pitch black.
After dinner, we treated ourselves to a gigantic piece of Oreo Browny cake in a popular bakery/bar. Very delicious!
Today we had a lazy day and decided to spend some time watching the world go by. For lunch, we had a massive garlic chicken 'sandwich' (baguette) from a street food stall for 10,000 kip (80p). If only we could get food like that back at home for that price!
This evening we found the Kangaroo Sunset Bar where you can roll a dice and if you roll a 1, your drink is free. If you roll a 2, your drink is half price. And all drinks are free between 10 and 10.30 so that was fun! Also if you have a whisky and mixer, you get more whisky in your cup than mixer as whisky is cheaper. The music was pumping and people were dancing and playing beer pong. After, we headed to Sakura Bar for more booze, more beer pong and more music.
It's gone midnight now and we're off to bed. Night!
