09.03 bis 11.03.2011 Return of the Mountain ByKing, nothing to do with the 3rd LOTR movie, but mountainbiking in LOTR Country is just awesome...Too bad I did not bring my own bike as my deraileur and deraileur hanger broke down on the Lakefront Trail. Glad I made it back to Wanaka. Will head to Queenstown tomorrow and get the bike back to the RR Shop.
After 3 days of mountainbiking and wild camping on DOC campsites it was about time to book a proper campsite for the night and stayed in the Mt. Aspiring View Campsite just out of town. Pretty sweet place with a SPA and a sauna.

There is a MTB Race today and I am sitting here with a broken bike, that is so sad.... http://www.iconicadventures.co.nz/motatapu-home/
Wanaka to Queenstown via Cadrona Pass in just one hour. Queenstown is really nice place, will start to look for some work from tomorrow on. Brought my bike to the workshop, hope to get it fixed asap. Staying at a DOC campsite again tonight on Lake Moko, just above Lake ... 8 ks away from the main road in the mountains. Absoultly beautiful spot and pitch black at night as there are no artificial lights in the area apart form other campers. Have planned to get up early to watch the sunrise.

WTF... It was bloody cold and the whole valley was filled with fog 2day when I woke up. So no sunset for me. The DOC Ranger woke me up at nine. Made a nice walk around lake Moke, suposted to be a 2,5 hrs walk. I did it in just one hour. Went back to QT and picked up my bike and hed to pay s***loads of money, bloody hell I really wish I had brought my own bike. REALLY NEED to come back again with a decent bike.
