Last day on Maui leisurely at the Marriot beach and pool. Arriving at the interisland terminal for Hawaiian Airlines. Again..the airline is attempting to charge us $80 for 2 bages over the 1-per-person limit. We decide to carry the snorkel bag and a tote, but the agent seems a bit spacey and we wonder if she even put our bags on the belt. Hawaiian also changed the flight time to 30 minutes sooner than ticketed, so we have only 25 minutes to clear security. ...

Life gives 2nd degree sunburn....change plans. We'd wanted to just relax on Maui...no sightseeing...not even planned to rent a car until we realized the distance from Kahlului to Kaanapali. Good thing we have the car. Lyn and I have almost no sun, but the girls are fried. We arrive after dark in Maui. Moist and humid...as if its been raining alot. The terminal is small and Dean picks up the Avis car while girls grab bags. Ahhh...sun is up and the view out our Garden room is probably better than the Ocean. The mountains are cloaked in clouds and everything is lush / green.   We go to the Marriott breakfast bar by the pool. $12 pancakes in a serve-yourself cafeteria that looks like a dog stand isn't what we expected.   We find out from guests departing its been a hellish week. Rain in 5 of 7 days ....not just brief sun showers. Makes us overanxious to tan while we can. We rent chairs and boogie boards. The Marriott has a great beach w/ very gradual grade of soft sand near the hotel and a great sloping surf near the Villas and Sports rental.
