howdy all,
We now in Melbourne city for a few days, its a buzzing city with a cool atmosphere and loads to do, shall i start: we arrived sunday afternoon n hopped into 1st hostel we found (King street backpackers) were paying $28 a night with brekkie thrown in, we dropped our bags off n had a little wander about, at 1st it seemed like any other city, fast cars and people shifting about, we decided to try and book the "neighbours tour and quiz night where you get to mingle with the starrs like the toad-fish and the bishop (legends), but we where to be sadly informed that the show was rammed-full (gutted), anyway maybe another day, so we booked a comedy show night for the Monday, didnt have a scooby-doo who was playing but was up for a laugh, the guy on the phone gave us the tickets for nowt (nice 1 fella).
Monday morning arrived and we got to see Melbourne in work-mode, we where located in the business district with all the high-rise and glamour any other business district has to offer, we decided to go on a old prison tour at the Melbourne gaul, it was pretty scary stuff, everything was still in order from the 1800's, its supposed to be 1 of the most haunted places in Melbourne, look at the pics it says it all, 1 of Australia's most famous cases was here (Ned Kelly and his family), after the prison visit it was home to spruce up for the comedy club, off we went on the local trams (class way of travel) we got off West Melbourne had some tucca then waited for the comedy-dudes to crack on, from the start it was brilliant, we where sat 2 tables from the front n thought we where gonna get picked outta the crowd for a wind0up (thankfully not), with the show there was a little bonus to the night, a guest apperance of Mark"CHOPPER" Reed, he came on during the performane and answered questions that the audience had to write down and give in before the show started, so off he went answering these silly-arsed q's, he just ripped into most of them, it was a right laugh, at the end we managed to get a few pics, there is 1 with me and his bodyguard they are scary blokes i'll tell ya that, but had a laught also.
The next day ell was going to some island so i fancied checking out the MCG (a massive stadium that holds all the sports) and going to the Australian open to check the stars out, i started at the sports ground where a $16.50 tour done the job, he told us all the histort n got to stroll about taking snaps etc, its a cool place it once had a crowd of 120.000+ peops, it also does music concerts n stuff, so from there i popped to the tennis tournaments where some nice little lady give me a free ticket (saved me $35 - cheers love), in a went free of charge, watched a few games in the boiling heat, listened to the barmy army songs, and tried to smuggle my self into the meain arena where Roddik and some of the worlds best are hard at it, i got foiled acting like a lost tourist and decided to give up, so that was my day chillin watching some fine tennis with a cold 1 !!!!!!.
Iv totally enjoyed Melbourne its a quality city with loads to offer, the hostel we stayed in was sound, the people are really friendly and helpful, if i dont find work in Perth im gonna head back here n look for some, so off to Adelaide tomorrow then a 2 day train journey to Perth ,
see ya !!!!!!!!!!!!!.
