hows it going all !!!! , me and ells have headed north to Chiang Mai for some trekking and to see the elephants, we left Bangkok on the night train (sleeper cabin this time), it was quality getting some snooze and waking up in our destination - its the way forward !!!, we arrived about 10am and stayed @ Libra guesthouse which is pretty much in the centre of Chiang Mai city, our digs are sparkly clean for the 150 baht were paying, so on to our adventure day, we booked us a tour which included a local hill tribe/Elephant trekking/bamboo rafting with some tucca inbetween, it cost us 900 each which is a bargain really, our day started off with a local long-neck tribes people, it was impressive to see how many gold rings they could have around their necks, its a way of life for the villagers here, then they have tourists coming taking pics etc, the peops where cool about it thou and as long as you bought something, look at the pics anyway !!!!, so after we headed for our elephant trek in the mountains and it was amazing, these creatures are cool as, the trip was about 1 hr in which we crossed rivers and some of the paths we trekked through where so narrow i would have struggled walking past never mind an elephant, these are stunning animals to be with in the wild and we loved the experience with them, after our trek it was off to white water raft then Bamboo raft, starting with the whitewater rafting, on our tour we had french/italian/thai/english/brazilian/japanease so the boat was pretty much multi-nationals floating down rapids trying to comunicate - can you imagine this ????, it was really good thou, and the rapids where decent also, so from there it was on to the bamboo rafts - well i would call it more sinking than rafting and again we just floated down stream for about 20 mins, the day was busy but fun and being with the elephants was amazing, we then headed home for about 6-7 pm for some tucca, take a look at the pics they pretty much show our day, we are going to see some Thai boxing tonight, thier is some english guy fighting, ellie is doing a 2 day elephant conservation programme which i think will be amazing, im gonna do a Muay Thai training camp for the 2 days then who knows from there ????
