I set my alarm fr 5.55am and my body didn't agree with it so i snoozed for another 2 hours to wake and realise i have to re-route my plans, never mind i chilled with my girl a little longer, after finally pulling my self outta bed it was fairwell to my little travel buddy ells and i was pretty sad to leave her in Bangkok, she was flying the same day but still we have done everything pretty much together for the last year and it was of to fly solo from here on, so we left each other from there and off i went towards the Cambodian border about 4 hours away, my trip started about 8 am, i intended to only use a tour company to the border and do the rest alone, as tour company's here have your pants down, so in theory it was planned and 4 hours later, we stopped about 10 mins from the border fro 30 mins while they sort passports out etc, anyone doing this route should take care of the passport and visa thing personally as its cheaper and you dont normally pay commision, after finally @ the border i was warned not only by other peops but by the book also that the immigration team WILL demand more cash, i cant be arsed with this b******s and as soon as he was asking for more cash i was boiling up, it states above me that $20 is set for the price and these people are demanding $25 or Baht or anything more that the actual price, i was narked right off and we had a little dispute where i was not paying this con-artist, so we argued on and on but in the end i seen that each person was being fleeced, i only payed 100 Baht extra and i belive people pay a lot more, the fact is if they wanted to they could deny me entry into Cambodia sdo i just bit-on my tongue and payed these turds, so at this point i was running late as most people drag their asses outta bed and get here early, never mind i was here with my backpack on dripping with sweat (nice !!!!) , i just wanted to get towards Siem Reap, i arrived @ the terminal where i was told all buses have left and id have to pay $35 for my own taxi, i know if your reading this back home @ $35 aint a lot but trust me it goes a long way here, im used to people trying to drain cash from me and they got the message straight from me, iv travelled for a while now and weathered you could say, but each place has its own little scams etc etc, its part of travelling i say and its part of the experience, you just have to try be 1 step ahead of the game and even then sometimes they slip through the net and you notice your pants firmly around your ankles while being greased up (not physically lol) its part of the package sometimes, i did manage to see a couple heading in a cab for Siem Reap and i asked if i could join, when asked how much they had paid i was shocked, they payed about 3 times the going rate and the driver expected me to add to the cost, i just walked off with shock, i feel sorry for the couple, so i pretty much had little choice for getting to my destination as most people share pick-ups and the cost is good when you get thier early enough, but their was 1 bus leaving and i had to pay 500 Baht which was a little more than i expected but that was my only option at this time, right finally im on my way to Siem Reap on the most talked about road in Cambodia, its a dirt-track with hugh pot holes, thats why it takes about 6-7 hours at sometimes 20km/h, i found it fun but many didn't, its all part of the travel - get on with it !!!!, the bus was as old as the hills but hey the little dude got me here (respect), my 1st impression of Cambodia (not the farce @ the border) was wow , the little homes dotted along the highway or mud-way it can be called and the children splashing in the mud with big smiles where welcoming, i wanted to get involved but dont think the driver would wait while we got messy, the driving continued along the famous road and then @ 11.30pm we finally arrived to what i can only describe as a pot of gold (guest house), the rooms where so clean, the family run guest house was so friendly, the vibe of the place was really nice, my room @ $3 included a double bed/private shower/toilet, t.v, aircon if you wanna use it , i was bus'in it from 8am and arrived at 11.30pm so a frseh double bed and a beer was just perfecto, i had a talk with the family then off to bed i went, wow i slept like a dream, this wasn't my choice of guest house @ 1st but im staying put maybe for a few days, it really is a nice place, while i adventure out to the amazing Ankor Wat (the worlds largest religious building - Buddist faith), so its time for my solo trip to begin, im missing my ells already but looking forward to seeing her in 3 weeks or so, oohh yeah the land of Cambodia hosts the cheapest beer in the world - fact (mmmmm why did i come to Cambodia again), so guys thats me now in another country and looking forward to the next few days, 1 more thing the England play the French tonight in the rugby semi final of the world cup, so i will be flying our flag high tonight !!!!!! COME ON THE BOYS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,
