Day 14-16 - Chilling in Budapest
I spent the last three days in Budapest Hungary and have absolutely loved it. I got there using the night train from Zurich which was an experience. In my bed I had about half a metre of space above my head as there were six beds jammed into the small room I was in. This meant you could not sit up and had to.crawl into your bed. However it was ideal waking up in Budapest refreshed and ready to go.
The first day I checked into the hostel and went out into the city. I explored the centre city and the castle hill as well as the hospital in the rocks. This hospital was built in the caves under the city and had been used by the Germans jn WWII and by the Russians as a nuclear bunker during the Cold War.
I met a bunch of people at the hostel that night and the next day we all headed out to the city park together. Here we had a look around before jumping into the thermal baths despite the 30 Degree day. That night we headed out to szimpla and the ruined bars which were really cool.
On my last day in the city I walked around the rest of the city and up the large hill to the liberty statue from which I had an amazing view over the city. It was a great way to end my stay in Hungary!
While I didn't have that long here I absolutely loved Budapest, it is such a beautiful city with tree lined streets, big parks and squares and amazing architecture. It is also extremely easy for tourists to get around without ever feeling too touristy which was great. Would definitely recommend the city to anyone and hope that I will make it back some day!!
