Today I finally got to Melbourne! Again! I also had free accommodation sorted, which made me feel very pleased.
So we started by going to another memorial and lookout point for the town, followed by a trip to find a giant merino sheep with a shop inside it. As you'd expect.
Our final stopover was Glenross, the town of Ned Kelly's last stand. This guy was a bushranger and mentalist with a suit of iron armour and a knack for killing policemen. He also had some mates and they were in a massive fight with the cops from an inn near the station. Eventually he was caught and hanged.
We got to Melbourne and dropped everyone off, picking up Fiona and arriving at her flat. We met again for a meal of dumplings and then tried to find a bar. Obviously not dressed well enough and it started to rain. Hard. Eventually we found a place and spent a couple of hours there before going home ready for Australia Day tomorrow!

Amy How can you reduce Ned Kelly to this? I mean yes these are the facts of it but they take any of the romance out of a tale of an Aussie hero. Yes I hear you say he was a criminal, but then a lot of Aussie heroes are pretty non-traditional. And then I guess it is easy for you, POM, to leave out the fact that he was robbing people because the British laws were keeping he and a lot of people like him starving and rewarding a very few loyal Englishmen with all the land. It was protest that made him a hero! Plus you cannot knock the armour, it was very inventive of him and was made out of the iron they made plows out of so bloody heavy. If I knew you'd been here I would have sent you to the State Library where you can see it and then you'd appreciate him more I'm sure
