11/03/09 - Nha Trang
We are rudely woken up by building works going on right outsuide our door at 6:45am. Not just small building but large scale renovation. Mattie is not impressed and is super grumpy and phones down to reception, who hang up on him a couple of times and then a cheerful girl comes to the door to tell us not to worry coz they'll be finished at 5pm - helpful! We can't get back to sleep so we decide to get up and get some breakfast. The temperature has really changed as we've moved down the country becuase it's really hot out even at 7.30am!
We all go to the the Oceanographic institute (kind of like the Sea Life centre) there are soem really cool fish , sharks and most amazingly of all turtles, loads of them and some of them are really big. We feel a bit bad from them coz they all have to share a smallish tank!
For lunch we go to a locals restaurant to try the local spring rolls. Throughout Vietnam there are different specialities and every regoin has there own version of spring rolls. These are roll your own and are very tasty.
Then we get a taxi to the mud baths, for some relaxing. it's so good, you sit in a bath of mud, shower in mineral water and bathe in a mineral water pool, and get blasted by a hot spring. Then you can relax in the swimming pool which is a mere 38 degrees!!!! It's great day and everyone really enjoys themselves.
In the evening we have dinner then we stop by an art gallery which speacialises in silk embroidery, the pictures are exquisite and take months or years to complete. They have a little garden which you can have free tea in so we do and then we go back and have iced coffee at the cafe next to the hotel.

We get up early again becuase of the building works and get breakfast at the place with the good iced coffee. We meet our local guide for the day and go off on our boat trip, the first stop is a fishing village on an island, while we're there a massive cockroach walks on Matties feet!! We take a bamboo basket boat ride back to our boat and then sail to an inlet where we can jump off the boat and swim. Mattie spends ages in the water snorkelling and sees seam worms, crabs and thinks he gets hissed at by a snake?! We have a seafood lunch on board the boat and then sail to a small beach on an island where we spend the afternoon relaxing. I get sunburn on my legs despite using lots of suncream, I think it's the sheer lack of sun for such a long time that causes it but it's bloody sore!!
We go out for dinner, Mattie has ostrich and then we go to the train station and board the overnight train to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City)
