13/03/09 - Saigon
We arrive at 4am and have a small nap before we meet up again at 6:30 for breakfast at Pho 2000, this place is famous becuase Bill Clinton visited it in 2000. From there we take a bus to the Cu Chi tunnels, it's so interesting, the traps they had (deadly), the vast network of tunnels, their tactical genius (soldiers only knew a very small part of the layout of the tunnels in case they were caught and tortured for information etc) they were incredible. Mattie walks down in the tunnels, he said you feel a bit panicky but it's really good to see.
On the way back we stop off at a charity centre where we learn about lacquering, it's really intricate the work they do and interesting to see how it's done.
We then go back to Saigon and have some free time befor we do a walking tour to the post office, cathedral and market. Whilst we are walking around a crazy girl gets a bit violent with Mattie trying to sell him chewing gum.
In the evening we go for dinner to a Saigon pancake roll restaurant, again they are so different from the others we've had but really good. On the walk home we pass by an amazing little bakery, get some cakes then go back to the hotel for some HBO, it's been a long day and we are knackered!

We get up early so we can enjoy some iced coffee at a street cafe, the iced coffee in Vietnam is sooooo good, it's really strong but sweet coz they use condensed milk or sweet milk as they say, Mattie and I are truly addicted to it!
We walk to the War Remnants Museum, it's one of the best museums we've been to in Vietnam and has a really good collection of photos from the war which are really eye opening. Mattie then takes a taxi to the pagoda but I go back to the hotel and update the blog coz I feel a bit pagodaed out!!
In the afternoon we walk to the market and stop at Pho 24 (Vietnams maccy D's) for some noodle soup. In the market we get some t-shirts, our haggling is super good now and we get them for well under half the original asking price!! I get some coffee makers which are used here and then we go to Tutti Frutti for some yummy frozen yoghurt! In the evening we go for dinner to a special place so Mattie can try crocodile, it's really good like a cross between pork and fish!
