Hello again..
We left San Francisco and got our last train down to San Deigo. San Diego is hot! We didnt get in to the hostel unitl about 2am and we were so tired so we went straight to bed - the problem was we were next to the party room and people kept singing Ronan Keating songs - Jen you would have loved it! Anyway the next day i went down to the beaches - Pacific and Mission beaches - it was nice - not as nice beaches as Miami though. Later on we went out to a bar where a band was playing dodgy covers - was quite fun though!
The next day we all got a ferry across to Coranado beach (i think thats what its called!) and this beach was really nice we only stayed a couple of hours as we had to be back at the hostel in the afternoon for an organised trip to Tijuana in Mexico. We thought it was going to be a few hours walking round the shops and then coming back but after we had signed up we realised it was a monster pub crawl involving tequila tasting etc. I hate tequila.
Mexico is quite different - a much poorer country but it had loads of characeter. there were lots of beggars and everything was so cheap! We went to a bar and they gave us buckets of Corona and then a man came round with a whistle and grabbed you from behind , tilted your head up and force fed you tequila. This happened to me 3 time during the night. I really hate tequila now. We went on to 2 clubs later and i rode a mechanical bull and played pool and table football and danced on a table to rubbish songs. But it was lots of fun!
The next day we flew over to Vegas baby! Oh my god it was so HOT! 42 degrees in the day and 38 degrees at night! We were staying in hotels though which were all air conditioned so it was ace! We stayed at MGM Grand the first night - its the biggest hotel in the world i think. 5 pools, a 17 thousand seated arena where George Michael played the day before, loads of shops etc. It was quite crazy. You get lost going to your room. We got addicted to the 1 cent slot machines.. at one point i got up to $40 but then i lost most of it again. I ended Vegas only a few dollars down though i think!
We went across to New York New York which is a hotel with a roller coaster inside it. Me and Carol went on it - we didnt realise how hight it was until we were on it. Was scary but fun! We went to most of the other hotels on the strip and saw the Belaggio fountains which were really impressive. We stayed the last 2 nights at the Stratosphere which was also nice - we spent most of the time in the pool during the day and at the slot machines at night getting free drinks. As long as you gamble they give you what you want! I only wish we had more of a budget so we could have gambled properly on the tables etc! Probably a good job we didnt though!
So from Vegas we got the smallest plane in the world over to LA which is where we are now. Our last place in America. I shall update LA when we are in Fiji which i cannot wait for - all this travelling round America is so tiring - we must have covered thousands of miles by train by now. Cant wait for a rest on the beach!
